Troop 135 Spring Break Trip to Boston

Cost$220 per person all in. May want to bring additional personal spending money. Payment due end of March

Wednesday April 17

  • Leave POP 8:30 AM
  • Arrive at Old Sturbridge Village between 10 & 11 AM for a tour and have lunch in the cafeteria
  • Drive to Camp Sayre, Milton MA, arrive in mid afternoon and set up our camp. We have two lean-to sites reserved.
  • Travel into central Boston by vehicle/T (subway from Quincy Adams station) & do a self-guided tour of part of the Freedom Trail in late afternoon (about 2 miles covering Boston Common, State House, Beacon Hill, Granary Burying Ground, King's Chapel, Old South Meeting House, Boston Massacre site)
  • Dinner in Quincy Market/Faneuil Hall area
  • Return to Camp Sayre

Thursday April 18

  • Breakfast at Camp Sayre (breakfast sandwiches & drinks for about $6 per person from the main building; we'll need to order in advance)
  • Leave Camp Sayre about 8:30 AM, travel by vehicle,T & foot to Charlestown.
  • Guided tour of USS Constitution at either 10 or 10:30 AM, visit the museum and USS Cassin Young (WW2 destroyer) if it has reopened for visitors by then
  • National Park Service guided tour from Charlestown to Bunker Hill and the monument starting at noon
  • Walk from Bunker Hill to Science Museum (about 1.5 miles), arrive about 2 PM
  • Late lunch in Science Museum and free time to see the exhibits until it closes at 5 PM
  • Travel by foot/T to Boston North End (Italian district) for dinner
  • Return to Camp Sayre
Friday April 19
  • Early breakfast at Camp Sayre
  • Leave Camp Sayre by 8:00 AM. Travel by vehicle, T, foot to Aquarium Wharf for Whale Watching Cruise (departs 10 AM sharp & we need to check in by 9:30)
  • Box lunch on board the boat (we'll order in advance), returning about 1:30 PM
  • Walk to Faneuil Hall for National Park Service guided tour of north section of Freedom Trail, starting 2:30 (Faneuil Hall, Paul Revere house, Old North Church (visit), Copp's Hill Cemetery)
  • Walk back to Quincy Market area for dinner
  • Return to Camp Sayre
Saturday April 20
  • Breakfast at Camp Sayre
  • Pack up and depart by 9 AM
  • Drive to Windsor Locks, CT, arriving about 11 AM
  • Visit New England Air Museum
  • Lunch somewhere on the way back to Brookfield
  • Arrive back at POP about 3 PM
