Who are we?
Brookfield Family Troop 135 is a Scouting America Troop based out of Brookfield, CT. We meet every Thursday evening and have monthly camping trips throughout Connecticut and the Northeast. Our typical monthly outing combines camping in tents or lean-tos with some activity such as fishing, boating, ice climbing, hiking and so on. Various day hikes and other activities are also offered. The troop is active in the community through community service projects.
Our scouts range in age from fifth grade up through high school. As with any Scouting America Troop, we offer a range of leadership positions to the scouts to maintain the mission of being a scout led unit. We encourage each and every scout to set personal goals through the Scouting Program including rank advancement and merit badges.
Troop 135 is proud to have recognized 40 Eagle Scouts over the 35 years and counting.
What is a family unit?
The family unit is a vibrant, all-in-one community designed to make the journey through Scouting more accessible and enjoyable for everyone in your household. Instead of juggling different schedules and locations, the Family Unit brings youth of all ages together under one roof, allowing siblings and friends to grow, learn, and lead side-by-side.

We as a unit make it a point, every month, to head into the outdoors, disconnect and enjoy time with nature.
Some of our activities include camping, hiking sections of the Appalachian Trail , canoeing on Candlewood Lake or Lake Lillinonah , fishing, Ice Climbing, Community Service Projects and more!
Every summer in July we attend Summer Camp for a week. Our go to spot is Camp Sequassen in New Hartford. During this week the Scouts and even the Scouters have a blast, learning new things, having new experiences, and being around Scouts from different areas in Connecticut and beyond.
We are a well-equipped troop and are prepared to take on the most exciting adventures. From patrol boxes to camp stoves, tents and more.
During our outings we ask that Scouts and Scouters bring their own sleeping bags, sleeping mat or cots, and plenty of proper clothing for the outing planned. To see a list of proper equipment for a campout, click the following link.
Over the last 35 years, Troop 135 has a proud tradition of Scouts earning the highest rank of Eagle.
We are very proud to announce that we have had 6 Scouts achieve the highest rank in Scouting in the last five years. And we are still counting.
Our program gives ample opportunity for our Scouts to advance at a pace that works for them so that all who join us can attain Eagle Scout.
